transfer planning

attending iowa lakes community college is a great way to accumulate credits for transfer and reach your academic goals. many of the courses you will take at iowa lakes are designed for transfer. if your goal is to earn a bachelor's or higher degree, the iowa lakes courses will help you achieve your plan.

the associate in arts (aa) degree is generally accepted as the first two years of college but may vary by institution. the associate in science (as) degree and associate in applied science (aas) degree are typically transferred on a course by course basis.

program articulation agreements are maintained by iowa lakes. course equivalency guides and articulation agreements are provided as a service. the information is intended to serve as a guide for students in preparing for transfer. please use the information as an opportunity to explore transfer options and begin a conversation with the four-year college of your choice.  admission requirements, degree requirements and course equivalencies vary by college and can change at either the community college or four-year institution. regular contact with the four-year college of your choice for the most current and accurate information is vital for a smooth transfer to that institution.

iowa lakes tries to provide the most current information possible, but iowa lakes’ employees are not representatives of the four-year college and cannot provide all information relevant to transfer to a particular institution. remember, this information is not intended to be a replacement for contact with a representative of the four-year college.

one way to assure a successful transfer process is to begin in the freshman year.  several iowa colleges and universities have programs such as the admission partnership program (app) or the 2+2 program where students may have an advisor on both iowa lakes campus and on the campus of the transfer institution offering such a program.  one of the requirements of these programs is that students begin early in their college career.
